If you are traveling as a kitesurfer in a camper, you will not find any pitches or campsites nearby at some good kitespots. In these cases, you should be self-sufficient and a reliable power source is essential. As already mentioned, we have discovered the LiFePO4 lithium battery from Powerqueen. It has been providing us with reliable service since 2023. For even more monitoring, we are testing the LiFePO4 lithium battery with Bluetooth on our trip to France this year so that we are not suddenly left in the dark.
Electricity has always been important to us and we have had a reliable power source with us since 2023. In spring 2025, we had to replace our old man 🙁 with a slightly larger home due to an addition to the family. Because we needed more space, we decided to fill it with a second battery, among other things. The type was clear, but this time we opted for the Bluetooth version for even more security.
If you spend a lot of time on the road with your camper, then you are probably familiar with the worry about the on-board battery. It reliably supplies the fridge, lights, laptop or cell phone with power and, especially after cloudy days, you ask yourself the question: “Will the battery last through the night?” Until now, we never knew exactly how much energy we actually had left. Even measuring the voltage rarely gives a clear result, as you can’t reliably read off the exact charge level of the battery.
The new Power Queen 12V 140Ah LiFePO4 Smart battery is designed to solve precisely this problem. Because it comes with a function that we have never had with any of our batteries before: Bluetooth. Using a free app, we can now monitor the charge status, temperature and remaining capacity directly on our smartphone at any time, without any additional measuring devices.
We tested the Power Queen Smart Battery on our 2025 kite trip, which took us along the entire coast of France, and in this article we show you the advantages of the Bluetooth function in everyday life, where its limits lie and for whom the investment is worthwhile.

Why a battery with Bluetooth makes sense in a motorhome
In our everyday camper life, a lot runs on electricity: lights, water pump, fridge, chargers for many electronic devices such as cell phones, laptops or the kids’ toys. We have often had the problem that without additional technology, it was difficult to estimate how much energy was actually left in the battery. Just measuring the voltage was often not enough, as the values depend on temperature, load and state of charge. That’s why we couldn’t get a reliable overview this way and were sometimes left in the dark at night.
We had initially considered installing a battery shunt in order to be able to measure our consumption and state of charge more accurately. This method is already used successfully by many campers and is a reliable solution to our problem. However, this method meant additional work during installation, a new intervention in the existing electrical system and ultimately higher costs.
Because we already have the LiFePO4 lithium battery from PowerQueen, we became aware of their new Bluetooth function for the Smart Battery. As we wanted to install another battery in our new camper anyway, this saved us the effort of converting it. The best thing is that the free app directly displays the current state of charge in percent (SOC), the remaining capacity in Ah, the voltage, the current flow (A) and the current power (W). We can also see the battery temperature and details of the cells and BMS.
When charging current is flowing, the app even calculates the estimated time remaining until the battery is fully charged. This feature is normally only offered by expensive battery computers. This is particularly useful when you’re parked up or on longer journeys without shore power. Instead of guessing, you now know at all times how full the battery is, whether energy is currently being drawn or charged and how long it will be until the battery is fully charged again.
The Power Queen 12 V 140 Ah Smart LiFePO4 battery at a glance
The Power Queen 12V 140Ah Smart LiFePO4 is a classic lithium iron phosphate battery that has been specially developed for campers, motorhomes and off-grid applications. It also has a decisive extra: the integrated Bluetooth module.

TECHNICAL DATA AT A GLANCE
Capacity: 140Ah (approx. 1792 Wh usable energy)
Voltage: 12.8 V nominal (13.0 V in operation, as shown in the screenshot)
Dimensions & weight: compact design, significantly lighter than AGM/gel batteries of the same capacity
Service life: over 4,000 charging cycles (depending on depth of discharge)
Temperature range: charging and discharging protection thanks to integrated BMS
BMS(battery management system): Protection against overcharging, deep discharge, short circuit and overheating
Special features of the “Smart” version
Bluetooth function:
The SOC (state of charge), voltage, current, power, temperature and charging cycles are displayed in real time via the app.
Remaining charging time calculation:
When the battery is charging, the app shows how long it is expected to take until it is full.
Cell monitoring:
The individual cell voltages can be checked in the app – handy for keeping an eye on the health of the battery.
Plug & Play:
No additional shunt or battery computer required, everything is already integrated.
This clearly sets the smart version apart from “normal” LiFePO4 batteries. Instead of retrofitting extra measurement technology, a glance at the smartphone is enough to have all the relevant data at hand.
Practical test – Bluetooth app in everyday motorhome use
Since our last trip, we have permanently installed the Power Queen Smart battery in our camper and have been able to test it intensively. In our case, this means that it keeps the lights, the water pump and the fridge running for the most part. In addition, consumers such as cell phones, laptops and camera batteries can always be charged via our inverter at 220 volts. Especially in bad weather, the battery determines how long we can be self-sufficient.
Since we’ve been using the Bluetooth app, we have better control over our power consumption and the battery charge level and can therefore take countermeasures in good time if we do run out. For example, we can switch the fridge to gas, charge only the essentials or head for a parking space. Setting up the app is relatively simple and we quickly had the current data for our new battery on our smartphone. The current state of charge is displayed in %, the remaining capacity in Ah and the battery temperature at a glance.

The current power flow is particularly practical, allowing us to see how much power the fridge is currently drawing or how much the solar system is feeding in when the sun is shining. Ideal for avoiding high power guzzlers when the charge level is low. Another highlight is the remaining charging time display. As soon as the battery is being charged, the app calculates how long it will take until it is full. This is extremely helpful, especially on cloudy days with low solar power, to assess whether we should drive a little further for the charging booster to take over.
In addition to the app functions, the handling of the battery has also proven itself in everyday use. Thanks to the integrated carrying handle and the low weight typical of LiFePO4, the battery was easy to install under the bench in our camper and we can also move it relatively easily if necessary. You will appreciate this advantage if you have ever balanced a heavy AGM battery.
For us, the Bluetooth lithium battery is a real asset. It has often helped us not to be left in the dark and we would choose it again and again. Instead of wondering whether the laptop will get enough battery tonight, all we have to do is look at our cell phone. This gives us a good feeling of security, especially when we are parked in the open or on pitches without electricity, because we always know whether we have to make do with our electricity or whether the solar system is supplying enough.
Advantages & limits of the Bluetooth function
The Bluetooth function of the Power Queen battery has made our everyday life in the camper much easier. We are dependent on electricity and, especially on long research trips, we don’t want to be constantly wondering how much power we have left. Nevertheless, in addition to the many advantages, there are also a few points that you should keep in mind.
Advantages
Transparency in everyday life:
Charge status, voltage, current flow and temperature at a glance at all times.
No additional battery shunt necessary:
The app replaces expensive and time-consuming retrofitting.
Remaining charging time display:
Particularly practical when charging via solar or charging booster.
Cell monitoring:
The health of the battery can be monitored at all times.
Convenience:
A glance at your cell phone is enough instead of fiddling with measuring devices or calculators.

Boundaries
Range:
Bluetooth only works in the vicinity of the camper. Reading via the Internet is currently not possible.
Only monitoring, no control:
The app displays data, but cannot control loads or chargers.
No history:
At the moment you can only see the current values, but no daily balance of consumption and solar yield. However, what is not yet available may be updated in the future.
All in all, the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages for us. The Bluetooth function offers a high level of convenience and security – without having to install any additional components.
For whom is a Smart battery in a camper worthwhile?
Whether the investment in a LiFePO4 Smart battery with Bluetooth is worthwhile for you depends heavily on your travel and usage behavior. We are often on the road in our camper for weeks, if not months, working in our motorhome and only have partial shore power available. That’s why the Bluetooth function is a real benefit for us. But the technology can also be worthwhile for short vacation trips.
Digital nomads
Anyone who works in a camper is familiar with the constant hunger for power from a laptop, camera, drone or Wi-Fi router. It is important to keep an eye on the capacity so that you can plan your working day.
Freelancers and long-term travelers
Campers who are without shore power for several days benefit the most. The Bluetooth app shows at all times how much remaining capacity is available and whether the solar system is supplying enough.
Motorhome with solar system
The smart battery is particularly useful in combination with solar. Instead of guessing whether the sun will be enough, you can see in real time whether the battery is actually being charged. There is also a forecast of how long the charging process will take.
Occasional camper
If, on the other hand, you are mainly on campsites with permanent power, you probably need the Bluetooth function less. In this case, a simple battery without an app connection will suffice.
Conclusion – our experience with the Power Queen Bluetooth battery
For us, the Power Queen Smart battery with Bluetooth has noticeably changed everyday life in the motorhome. Finally, we no longer have to puzzle over how much energy is left, but have full control directly on our smartphone at all times. This gives us a much better sense of security, especially when we are away for several days or working on the road.
The app is clearly structured and displays all the important values such as charge status, current flow, temperature and even the remaining charging time. This saves you additional technology such as a battery shunt, which can also be too much weight, and you still have an overview at all times.
Of course, there are also minor limitations, such as the fact that the app currently only works via Bluetooth and does not save a history. These points could certainly be improved in the future. For our everyday travels, however, the advantages clearly outweigh the disadvantages.
Our conclusion: The Power Queen LiFePO4 Smart battery with Bluetooth is worthwhile for all campers who like to be self-sufficient, work on the road or spend several days without shore power. A normal battery will certainly suffice for classic camping vacationers. But if you want to have easy control over your energy consumption, then the Bluetooth function is a real asset.
